A Family Trip to Beamish

We were recently contacted by Deborah who had been diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer earlier this year. Deborah requested a special family trip during the school holidays as she had continued to work while undergoing treatment and had understandably struggled with fatigue.

At KOAC we know all about the toll that cancer treatment can take, so we decided Deborah was more than deserving of a break where she could rest up and spend some quality time with her family. After some deliberation, Deborah decided on a trip to Beamish museum and a few nights staying in the area.

We arranged a stay at Beamish Hall Hotel, along with an annual pass to Beamish museum. Deborah, her husband and two children were delighted with the trip and they even ended up being upgraded to an apartment which meant they could all really relax in loads of space!

The hotel was enchanting… The weather was gorgeous too and perfect for a full day at Beamish. We didn’t manage to see everything so I hope we will go back with the annual pass!

Overall, our experience was fantastic. KOAC arranged for us to have 2 nights at the Beamish Hall hotel and entrance to the Beamish museum. You sent us a lovely email with all the trip details for easy reference and one of the big pluses was that we didn’t have to organise anything ourselves! The hotel was gorgeous and not the kind of place we would ever have booked for ourselves, and I think we got an upgrade as we ended up in a huge apartment. That really helped us too as the apartment was fully equipped and we were able to make packed lunches and also eat dinner in the apartment on the second night.

I’d highly recommend Beamish museum as well – there is so much to do and see and we were able to walk there from the hotel.

It was a brilliant break and we really appreciated all you guys did!

Feedback from Deborah on her experience.

We were delighted to be able to provide Deborah and her family with some respite from her treatment and help her spend some quality time with her family.
