Gift Aid Awareness Day

,

Today is Gift Aid Awareness Day! So, what does that actually mean?
Well, according to estimates in the UK an approximate £560m of potential Gift Aid goes unclaimed each year; which is a staggering figure. For a small charity like ours, which is totally reliant on donations, this can make a huge difference. As an example, gift aid on our recent World Record Attempt meant we generated an additional £2,000+ from people ticking the box on the donations; which will allow us to help 4-5 more families. A massive impact!

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid is a scheme that allows charities to reclaim, from HMRC, the basic rate of tax on a donation made by a UK taxpayer and it increases the value of donations by 25% at no extra cost to you! Basically, by selecting Gift Aid it means KOAC can get an extra 25p for every £1 donated.

What do I need to do?

To allow us to claim Gift Aid on your donation, a Gift Aid Declaration needs to be made. All this is, is a confirmation of your full name and home address which confirms that you are a UK Taxpayer. However, donations must come from a personal bank account; anything from a company account/donation is not eligible for Gift Aid.
Fortunately, any donation online to KOAC allows you to tick the box for Gift Aid and enter your details. A quick step that won’t involve any additional cost to you!

In a nutshell, that’s it, so for any future donations to KOAC or any other charity for that matter please remember to #TickTheBox.
